The first great union in the women’s circuit has arrived. The rumours that placed her next to the number 8 of the ranking are confirmed.
The players from Madrid and Valencia will start a new project together in 2024 with which they want to aspire to everything. Both made it official on their social networks on Tuesday afternoon.
Salazar/Icardo 2024 is official
Alejandra Salazar, about to turn 38, is determined to continue competing with the elite couples. Along with Tamara Icardo, they will be looking to challenge the top three pairings.
Tamara, for her part, will take the opportunity to show her full potential after the injury that cut short her progression. Maxi Grabiel will support them from the sidelines. Official statement:
“We join our paths this 2024. With great enthusiasm and excitement we undertake this new project with Maxi Grabiel. We will work hard and we will give everything to give our best version. Let’s go team”.
2023 was convulsive for both
Alejandra Salazar, after starting the season with Gemma Triay and facing an elbow injury that forced her to miss several tournaments, looked for a new partner after her operation.
Sofia Araújo was the chosen one, and although they reached four finals, they didn’t manage to win the title. After playing the Master Final, Salazar and Araújo announced their separation.
On the other hand, Tamara Icardo and Virginia Riera completed the 2023 season as a couple, fighting to be the fourth best couple but finishing as the fifth. Although they reached three finals, they failed to win a title and also announced their separation.
From the break-up of these two pairs comes the first new pairing on the women’s circuit. Rumours about this union have been circulating for a few days on social networks and this new project has finally come to fruition.
