Leo Augsburguer has it in his hands to become one of the 16 chosen for the Barcelona Master Final. All he has to do is win in Mexico!
Almost everyone thought the debate about the qualifiers for the last tournament in the history of the WPT was closed, especially after the two main candidates faced each other in the first round, but the situation has taken a totally unexpected turn.
Win or nothing
If Leo Augsburguer wants to have a chance to be among the top 16 players of the season, he has to win the final of the WPT Mexico Open 2023.
Only then would he catch up in points to the current holder of the place, Coki Nieto. A very difficult task, of course. They would have to overcome the newly proclaimed number 1 of the season, Arturo Coello and Agus Tapia. Almost nothing.

It was a long shot
The early elimination of Nieto/Sanz in Mexico, opened up a minimal loophole for the Madrid player’s pursuers who were still alive in the tournament. And one of them was Leo, who along with Tino Libaak is in his second final of the year with the possibility of playing in the Master Final.
With the hypothetical achievement of the title by the “Pibes”, both would add 1,000 points to their locker, which would make Leo overtake Coki, who would lose the prize after a very irregular end of the season.
